Mission:

  • To build a diverse team of community volunteers and gardeners with a vision of improving the quality of life through the reduction of financial stress and food insecurity

  • To harvest nutritious food and develop stronger communities through the good produced by a community oriented garden

  • To teach gardening using environmentally friendly organic methods

    UW-Extension's Field of Dreams

    A large vegetable garden that feeds people in need in Kenosha County; managed by a core group of 6 volunteers, the Kenosha County UW Extension, and many one-time volunteers throughout the year

    UW-Extension's Summer Youth Garden

    Children's vegetable gardens that are scattered across the cities of Racine and Kenosha, serving as sites for weekly nutrition and gardening classes for children. The gardens are started and maintained by the UW-Extension staff in Racine and Kenosha ,with help from the children each step of the way. The produce from the gardens are sent home with the children to supplement their family's vegetable supply.

    Burlington Garden Center ­ Harvest of Hope

    An effort to raise fresh vegetables for the local food pantry. Staff of the Garden Center and some Master Gardeners keep the garden tended and harvested all summer

  • Eighty acres of woods, fields, ponds and river wetlands on Racine's northwest side, operated by the YWCA of Racine

    Chiwaukee Prairie

    Kenosha County - Pleasant Prairie, located south of the City of Kenosha along the Lake Michigan shoreline, east of Sheridan Road (Highway 32), and both north and south of 116th Street

  • It is the largest parcel of native wet prairie of its kind in the Midwest, habitat for more than 350 species of wildflowers and grasses

  • The Nature Conservancy owns and manages the 225-acre Chiwaukee South parcel. The remaining acres, surrounded by homes, are protected by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
